This song could do with about 60% less "yeaaaaaaaaaaah"

I love the way that part is sung. Like I said, it never bothers me if a PJ song sounds like something else. It usually does if you think long enough. The important thing is they do it better.
Yeah, the post you quoted was actually sarcasm. I don't care either ;) Pearl Jam is beautiful, no matter what they say. Words can't bring them down.

Thejambi wrote:I have this at a solid 4 with room to grow. I love the rhythm and the chorus vocal melody. It's a bit arbitrary and probably not a sound reason to like the song more but what adds to this song is that its the first song in a long time that i can hear Ten era Pearl Jam without it being hur dur or derivative of something else from then. It also manages to do it with some of the quirk from Binaural/RA Pearl Jam.
Good assessment. There's a lot of downbeat groove from RA with an anthem on top. It's an odd mix, jarring but also quirky and interesting. One thing the last two records lacked, for me, was quirk, character. This one's got a personality.

I think the Christina Aguilera comparison is silly, but I still really dislike the chorus. I find it cloying and dull. I like the verse music a lot, though.

It's a missed opportunity for something more, definitely. But man, I've felt like that about PJ choruses before. I can live with this.

I'm much more into the chorus since learning that the lyric is "Of everything that's possible...", not "Everything is possible...". The former has something to follow it, the latter is pure Bono.

Christina's fans should be notified about this song. It would bring down the average age of pj's fanbase by 14 years. Wait, does CA even have a message board or just twitter?

This is an early favorite for me. Not #1 maybe, but top 3 easily. But I'm still finding this thing. Only half way through my second listen. But first impression is pretty fucking great.

Yeah this one might be starting to get under my skin. The chorus is more low-key than it could have been, but that "failed anthem" feeling is starting to make it more charming and akin to Riot Act (which also had a lot of songs that *almost* took off...).

You know what, another song this reminds me of (the drum groove, and the way it doesn't quite lift off) is "Help, help." There's probably going to be as many people who dislike this song as there are who hate that one, because it never really rocks as hard as it could.

Not bad for a live debut:

The outro is great, though Ed doesn't attempt the high notes before the solo. Still, great performance overall.

This is true, i posted my thoughts after my first couple of listens and then listened to this one again and really enjoyed it, it just had no chance to live up to the hype, but its a goons interesting song
