Desantis has made multiple statements to the effect that he is acting against Disney because they criticized him and the legislature. On that ground Disney probably has a firm basis for a case.

Returning control of Reedy Creek Improvement District to Disney world fix this for them, but it's a rather big claim. I wonder what remedy somewhat less than that is likely. Them having control of it to begin with was a benefit provided by the state, perhaps the state can claim the right to revoke that at any time, regardless of the underlying reasoning.

Unless I'm mistaken, something similar would be if a government cancels a contract with a vendor or NGO due to demonstrated retaliation. Normally that vendor/ NGO gets the contract extended if they prevail in court. I think the justification there is the original contract is assumed to have been won fairly under a neutral process.

Being given control of Reedy Creek had no such neutral process so the remedy shouldn't be the same. It's not as if Universal was trying to break ground at the exact same time and wanted to run things, is it?

Anyhow, I don't think Florida was as dumb setting this all up as the coverage seems to indicate so I don't expect the Mouse to win all that much.
