Don't Look Up yesterday. It was better than I expected, but not great. With a little editing, slimming down, knock off 20 or 30 minutes, could have been much better. The message is pretty crucial, very relevant today, but if it will not hit you over the head, it will fly right over it.

Clerks 3 is worse than bad. It is fucking vile. I don't know what's wrong with Kevin Smith's brain that he felt this was an acceptable product to put out. Tossed together haphazardly, amateurish beyond belief (even more so than the first one, at least in writing), CHEAP and ridiculously saccharine in its emotional beats, no rhyme or reason to it. Treacly, in a very cynical way. Just trash, his worst film yet. And I am watching it again in St Louis because my friend bought tickets to his screening/Q&A roadshow.

As mentioned, I went to the screening/Q&A in St Louis last night. The movie is still really horrible (the more I think about Dante's arc the angrier I get), but Kevin Smith later came out and gave a detailed summary of the original Clerks 3 script that they were supposed to make a few years ago and was canceled. It's a much darker and more interesting story that got kind of avant garde, though it still has some cringy aspects (it folded in Hurricane Sandy and the Aurora shooting into the plot).

Also this morning as we were having breakfast we were surprised to see Smith and his entourage walk through the lobby and into a car outside; turns out we were staying at the same hotel.

It's obvious that the last few years of de-aging CGI has broken something in my brain because I cannot help but see the actual 13-year-old Christian Bale as anything other than a badly de-aged middle-age Christian Bale. I know this is not the reality, but my brain won't stop seeing it.

Finally watched the Mario movie. I dunno. It's very clearly for very young children. The animation is spectacular but I really wanted it to be funnier. Lots of wasted opportunities for jokes.

I just watched It: Chapter Two again. I know a lot of people hated that movie but I fucking love it. It's so chaotic and weird and emotional and FUNNY. Big fan of this super misunderstood movie
