First track destroyed my soul

I really enjoyed the music of the first promo they released when they announced the album, glad to see it didn't disappear.psychobain wrote:First track destroyed my soul

The other song with Phoebe is amazing

Re: The National
It’s fine. I agree - the more I listen the more I’ll like it.
I feel like a few of these sound like what would have been b-sides on earlier albums (eg, Ice Machines, This Isn’t Happening). But I knew what to expect going into it.
I will say this, the singles are so much better in the context of the entire album. It’s part of the reason I hate the trend of releasing like half the album before its release date.

I recently listened to a podcast with one of the Dessner brothers, and he mentioned they'd written and recorded a bunch of songs for this album. Maybe there are more uptempo songs waiting to be released. Hopefully, all at once.
All I ask is for a handful of uptempo numbers. They can do it.

Jumping into this thread to eat crow--the LP shipped early Thursday morning and is going to arrive today (release day).Simple Torture wrote:It's being shipped media mail, so that's usually 4-5 days, even though it's only going from Rhode Island to Maine, so I'm probably looking at Monday. I have had some miracles before where a media mail package arrives from Bull Moose overnight, so that could conceivably happen.oasisfan35 wrote:USPS is two days to anywhere, no?Simple Torture wrote:Pre-ordered the album through my fan club membership, here we are three days from album release and it hasn’t shipped yet.![]()
I went through Bandcamp so I assume the album will be my first listen at work Friday. I have enjoyed the singles and am actually listening to I am Easy to Find right now, I really do adore this release.
I misread the art and thought the album was out last week but it will be nice to get the first of the slew of albums (5) I actually have on pre-order.

The National - Live at Bearsville Theater, Woodstock NY Live Stream May 3, 2023
The National wrote:On March 4, 2023, we debuted much of our new album, First Two Pages of Frankenstein, for an intimate audience at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, NY. It was a pleasure getting to play these songs live, many for the first time, and we broke out some old favorites, too. Some fans traveled from far away places to see us in such a small room again. Bearsville was a memorable night for us and we're excited to share it with you here on Bandcamp for 48 hours

Re: The National
I really adore this band incorporating piano and the snippet of that first track living in my head for the last month+ is really paying off.
I think Matt sounds great, would love a well curated live setlist that does not promote him destroying his voice and this band could hit back to Boxer/Terrible Love days as a great act.

I don't believe they are selling anything. Possibly just gauging interest along with a more minimal production.given2trade wrote:Yah, it's pretty lame they selling it for a 48 hour rental. wtf?dad wrote:pretty cool. maybe they'll make it available for purchase.oasisfan35 wrote:The National - Live at Bearsville Theater, Woodstock NY Live Stream May 3, 2023
