apparently mike is playing a 6 string bass in MFS. that was confirmed. I have trouble hearing it even in the flac, but I may not know what I'm listening for.

I'm starting to think the 6-string bass may be playing the chimes/accents on the verses, on the right hand channel.

My day has gone like this...

Arrive to work
Put on Lightning Bolt.
Stop lightning bolt, take care of some work
Read post on RM indicating something to look for on a certain song

Yep. The liner notes say "hymn" (instead of "him"), not "hymns".

I'm getting the feeling there may be a couple of things written differently in the liner notes. PJ have done that before too.

I'm thinking it means the earth is crying for something "out there", God, aliens, answers to questions. It wants to love something beyond us.

I've decided I liked the S/T artwork, but the fact that the music didn't fit it (not quite drug-induced and trippy enough) sort of diminishes it. The last album I liked completely (including artwork) was Riot Act. So this is the best album and artwork since then for me.

I really love the Riot Act cover, probably as much as any cover in the catalog. But the booklet and the rest of the artwork on that one are nice and subdued, appropriate, but otherwise nothing special. The customized song artwork, slightly cartoony but not Backspacer-ish, really works for me here. This is no Vitalogy or Yield for me, but it's probably right in the conversation after those two.

* A Single Video Theory length version of the short film
* B-side or two
* Live versions of Lightning Bolt songs performed tonight in Pittsburgh

I liked Ed's look over at them as they discussed it. He has to know those are their 2 best records and he did the heavy lifting on both.

Maybe he wishes he could've done more work on it *because* it's his favourite. I know I feel like that about my poetry. When I publish a poem that I think is really good, I'm frustrated that I didn't wait to make it great.
