Somebody picked Bernier up already. Bishop is the only starter left.philpritchard wrote:I don't think I would make that specific move, but I decided not to keep Rinne in my keeper pool this year for that exact reason. He won't likely get a ton of wins and his numbers were pretty average last year.shinkdew wrote:Would anyone here drop Pekka Rinne and pick up Ben Bishop? My other goalies are Cam Ward and Fleury. I don't think TB is going to set the league on fire but Nashville is terrible.
Now, Rinne for Bernier, on the other hand...

I wouldn't drop Rinne. He had serious hip surgery in the summer, it may take him a while to get going, but he's a proven goalie and will get better. I don't trust Tampa's defense. Plus, Bishop could still platoon with Lindback.

I can't drop him anyway, he's on Yahoo's can't cut list. I'm usually not the guy that panics in the first week but I've watched two Nashville games and their offense is horrific.scrub12 wrote:I wouldn't drop Rinne. Yeah, their offense is bad. He may not get a lot of wins, but I expect his number to be decent.shinkdew wrote:I can't drop him anyway, he's on Yahoo's can't cut list. Enjoy it while you can. Historically speaking Leaf melt-downs happen in the 2nd half... of a third period.philpritchard wrote:Well this is going well.

Glad Tim Thomas has finished praying with his family! I hope the Bruins score 8 goals on him tonight.

I hope he shuts out the Bruins and then tells Joe Haggerty to go fuck himself in the post game interview.Simple Torture wrote:Glad Tim Thomas has finished praying with his family! I hope the Bruins score 8 goals on him tonight.

Matt Cooke rightfully got all sort of flack, but the thing about Cooke was, was that when he didn't do all the dirty shit, he could still be a productive player with a role outside of hurting people and playing dirty
John Scott has no such skill
but as much as I hate Scott, I think the Buffalo coach is actually a bigger dink

I understand the role players like John Scott fill, but I think the punishment should be a lot harsher when it's a player like him taking out an important player like Eriksson. If a player plays 5 minutes a night and throws dirty hits like that, there should be repercussions for the coach/team as well.MattA75 wrote:Matt Cooke rightfully got all sort of flack, but the thing about Cooke was, was that when he didn't do all the dirty shit, he could still be a productive player with a role outside of hurting people and playing dirty

maybe lucic shouldnt run miller then if you dont want one of your players to get run. it would have been nice to see scott destroy lucic but it wasnt meant to happen

What it comes down to is don't hit guys in the head. You want to fight, throw big hits, fine but don't throw elbows to the head.Peeps wrote:maybe lucic shouldnt run miller then if you dont want one of your players to get run. it would have been nice to see scott destroy lucic but it wasnt meant to happen

Ohhh, I didn't realize Scott was just throwing a late elbow to the head to get revenge for a hit that happened two years ago. Nevermind, then. No suspension.Peeps wrote:maybe lucic shouldnt run miller then if you dont want one of your players to get run. it would have been nice to see scott destroy lucic but it wasnt meant to happen

I mean I get it, but Scott can do nothing else on the ice...even guys like Kocur and Probert 25 years ago could at least play...I don't know if there's ever been an enforcer as inept at everything else as Scottphilpritchard wrote:I understand the role players like John Scott fill, but I think the punishment should be a lot harsher when it's a player like him taking out an important player like Eriksson. Re: NHL Thread
That's the way a lot of goons are now, though maybe not quite to that extreme. I would have said the same about Colton Orr prior to the lockout, but over the last year or so he's turned into a guy who can play 8-10 minutes when needed and not hurt the team. I wouldn't say the same about Scott.MattA75 wrote:I mean I get it, but Scott can do nothing else on the ice...even guys like Kocur and Probert 25 years ago could at least play...I don't know if there's ever been an enforcer as inept at everything else as Scottphilpritchard wrote:I understand the role players like John Scott fill, but I think the punishment should be a lot harsher when it's a player like him taking out an important player like Eriksson. Phil - Who do you think the better option in the Leafs net is? I like Bernier for his rebound control. I think Toronto has to tighten up in their own zone to make the next step and that's a lot easier with a goalie with better rebound control.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.
