The way he flip flopped on Vitalogy/No Code after Richards called No Code fucking awesome.

did he really flip-flop though? if i recall, all he said was he wished they spent more time perfecting the songs during the No Code sessions... and then later said he loved In My Tree and Present Tense because they're some of his favourite lyrics... i don't see why he can't hold both opinions.

Maybe he wishes he could've done more work on it *because* it's his favourite. I know I feel like that about my poetry. When I publish a poem that I think is really good, I'm frustrated that I didn't wait to make it great.

Yeah that was my impression of that conversation as well.

Plus, those are two old albums now and many of the songs on those they have played a lot now. The next part of that conversation totally moved into how the way they play those songs now isn't the same way they played it on the album and they (Jeff and Stone) sort of wish they'd had more time to figure all that out and get it on the record. That speaks to a wish to make something you like be even better. If Jeff just flat didn't like those albums, he would probably have no interest in ever having put in an effort to make them better.

I never heard "red dress" at all, but the others ... sure. Or as M-D said, a deliberate choice to use a homophone.

Any inkling of what the "exclusive digital content" with the preorder will be? I'm prepared for it to be the short film on YouTube and/or bootleg download code, but I'm hoping it could be:

* A Single Video Theory length version of the short film
* B-side or two
* Live versions of Lightning Bolt songs performed tonight in Pittsburgh

I've forgotten what the Backspacer content was.

I was thinking that perhaps we get all live studio recording videos of each song, a la Sirens and MYM. Because they also made one for Getaway, as seen in the short Danny Clinch film, so I'm hoping we get an alternate version of the album with live studio recordings.

I loved the uke version, and I love this one for entirely different reasons. I had to let go of what I imagined, though, as with everything PJ. This is not a rubbish adaptation job at all.

I get your point but no. He only felt the need to point that out after someone reminded him that despite the fact he didn't have time to play with it turned out ok. Besides your posts about Dave A's drumming on Vitalogy kind of kills his argument
This isn't new btw. Most people assume they jammed out Vitalogy because of his past quotes yet he states the opposite here and has said s/t was the 1st jammed out one after Vs. So i don't think he's new at this kind of shit. It's interesting how much positively Stone talks about Ed. It's like he's compensating for maybe giving him more shit then he deserved back in the day.

No hard copies. It's supposed to be downloadable along with the digital version of the album. I think video is specified, but i'd have to double check that.

How does essentially every album coming out these days get collectively reviewed as very good or better? Don't get me wrong, I don't care one way or the other about any band's reviews. But back when I paid a lot more attention to music, I don't think it worked this way.

But hey, cool, nothing is bad anymore.
