McFarland USA

«Jim White, a school football coach at odds with the system and players, takes a job as an assistant football coach at McFarland. White finds the potential for cross-country in few students at the school. He gets interested in building up a cross-country team, but has to adjust his ways to suit the system. White and his team overcome poverty and personal turmoil, and get to the pinnacle of success.»

Starting this now.

This was surprisingly good. A really well told true story.

Dungeons & Dragons was as good as everyone's been saying. Very funny. Fairly unremarkable as a Fantasy/Adventure movie, but the comedy bumps it up a few notches.

Chris Pine has some elite-level comedic timing. That beautiful sonofabitch. Hugh Grant is basically playing the same character he did in Paddington 2 and I'm all for it. He's great.

Nymphomaniac weekend was a success, by the way. I got through the whole thing and found it to be very good, definitely a success. Good on ya, Lars

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.
