There's something so much better about real people, in real places, doing real stunts.
That’s a stone cold classic. Five stars.

Starting this now. 5th last 2015 movie.

I enjoyed it. It was certainly different from your typical movie, very original. At the beginning I think it was quite brilliant, if incredibly weird. But I did feel that it lost some steam as the movie progressed.

Spotlight

«The true story of how the Boston Globe uncovered the massive scandal of child molestation and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese, shaking the entire Catholic Church to its core.»

Second time seeing this.

Last three 2015 movies will be Room, Carol and Brooklyn. Room for the second time, the other two for the first time.

Room

«A little boy is held captive in a room with his mother since his birth, so he has never known the world outside.»

Carol

«An aspiring photographer develops an intimate relationship with an older woman in 1950s New York.»

Brooklyn

«An Irish immigrant lands in 1950s Brooklyn, where she quickly falls into a romance with a local. When her past catches up with her, however, she must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within.»

Will comment on each after seeing them in the coming two days.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Room was my top movie of the year the first time I saw it, which is why I have saved it until the end.

Forty minutes in and Spotlight is even better than I remember. Really a topic that can’t get enough focus.

Why
I saw it on the 2nd of January 2017, and will rewatch it soon, probably tomorrow.

At the time it really moved me, felt it was an incredibly moving performance by Brie Larson. Thought the story was really tense, emotional and well told.

Let’s see how it does a second time.

Carol and Brooklyn are both wonderful and quite a bit similar in cinematography, setting, and themes. I think I prefer the rose-colored sweetness of Brooklyn over the more textured darkness of Carol, but just slightly.
Agree with most of this but I'd stop short of calling Room "trash." It's bad but I think it would be much better with a more subdued, less shmaltzy score
