M3GAN had its moments, but it's gonna be a 'thumbs down' from me.

It seems like the kind of move A.I. would spit out guided by studio executives to try to appeal to the broadest audience possible. It ends up being a whole lot of nothing.

Had to stop this yesterday, and never found the time to finish it. Watching the final 30 minutes now.

Reminds me of All The President’s Men. Two wonderfully well made and well acted made journalistic dramas.

the problem with M3gan wasn't its rating, but the fact that the leading characters and setup were boring (especially Allison Williams); the M3gan parts were fun but it takes too long for her to appear, and your "monster" is only as effective as the mundane "real life" parts of your story

it reminded me of Jurassic World in lots of ways, in that the best thing about Jurassic Park is the worst thing about World: the human character work

Unless Carol and Brooklyn change my mind, I think Brie Larson had the standout performance I’ve seen by any actor in 2015. Half an hour into Room now, and she’s fantastic.

Audiences were going crazy for this movie. Or at least that's what I was led to believe.

She used to be very good and compelling. Now she barely makes a movie and when she does, she looks so bored.

She has dead eyes. So she’s good in a role like Room, but not in other stuff.

Yeah, people loved it. I kept hearing "it's camp!". No it's not. It's just boring

I agree with this. She’s gone the major franchise blockbuster route, which is good for fame and money, but not for great roles and great movies. In addition her performances have not been the best in those movies.

I walked out of it almost immediately. I believe within the first ten minutes. It just looked so horrible, like some CBS procedural. Couldn't handle it

Finished Room again (second time ever), and I think it’s an excellent movie. Gives real insight into what it must have been like for Natascha Kampusch and Elisabeth Fritzl, both during and after what happened to them. Some excellent performances, and a fine production.

The score was fine, certainly didn’t bother me.

Top ten movie of 2015 for sure, have to think about the final list.

No, but I hardly ever do when watching movies.

My wife often jokes about king of the north, because according to her, I cried when Rob was named king of the north. Which is nonsense of course. A tear did fall when I watched War Horse.

Starting Carol now. Finishing it shouldn’t be a problem, unless I get very tired, but won’t be time for Brooklyn today.
