Due to weather and not being home, I’ve become quite delinquent in keeping the yard mowed. I’ve only done the front once and the back twice so far this year. Since it has grown up so much I decided to break out the ol’ riding mower to get things in the right direction. It has been a couple of years since it’s been used so the battery was dead. Bought a new battery put some gas in and tried starting it. It was turning over like mad but not starting. So I figure either a clogged fuel pump or the carburetor needs cleaning. I proceed to mow with the electric push mower. After getting about 1/2 of the front weed eating done, both those batteries were shot. I got maybe 2/3 of the front mowed and went thru two of those batteries. With one battery left I decided, what the hell?, and tried starting the rider again. Fired right up. So I finished the front and did the back and just used the push for the rest of the trim stuff. I had forgotten how quick it goes with the riding mower. I initially decided to push mow here so I could get some sort of exercise in but fuck that shit. I’m riding from here on out.

Managed to bookend the day with a nice bit of alone time.
Mother's day today, so my wife finally got to get her surf-skate board. About to hit up a local park to give it a hoon

For Mother's Day yesterday I took the wiffey, kids, my Mum, my MiL and SiL out to lunch at one of the restaurants at the casino. I dropped my Mum off after as everyone else headed in to lose some coin. I drove back to pick them all up and ended up hanging about at the sports bar watching the big screens while they gambled- the casino is totally not my place to be.

We had 6 people to hop into a 5 seat car and so my son decided he was jumping in the back (hatch back type SUV thing) and so I took it very careful driving home. Went through a big RBT/Booze Bus on the way and panicked as I thought I was done for (not for blowing over - I hadn't had a single drink all day - but because I had a passenger unrestrained in the back of the car). The police man didn't even notice (helped by my son throwing the dog blanket over himself). Dodged a $550 fine and 4 demerits there. Nice.

it wasnt even blinked at for the three of us kids to sit in the back whenever we had long trips to the mountain or even around town. i remember hanging on for dear life during the turns.

Yeah my dad had a Chevrolet Silverado and we used to love hanging out in the back. Horribly unsafe but we didn't really think of that as kids

Yesterday I saw a woman riding on the tailgate with a baby strapped to her chest, and behind her was a stroller with another kid in it. Wtf.

do people ever try to boat or swim near them?

there are dumbasses here who see the whales and then drive their boat up close to look

not understanding that the whale might smash or capsize their boat due to whale movements

so far from what I've seen is that the people are very respectful...you'll see a kayaker or 2 follow way behind some times but that about it...its nice to see them left alone..occasionally there will be a research boat out there that tracks them and sends their names out to our whale watch app...
