I think it's totally appropriate to do a "after-2000" list. It's impossible to compete with a time period when people first fall in love with a band and are going through a certain honeymoon phase and when they are going through their own coming of age (high school and college). Like comparing year 4 with a girlfriend after that "hot and heavy" period when you first met.
