We binged the MI’s over a week or so during deep Covid. Good times.

This, Dune 2 and Napoleon for me.

I only recently watched this whole series and aside from the awful second one they're all good to great.
Good call, nearly forgot about Dune 2. And yes MI2 is the only dud thus far (thanks John Woo!).

Could never really get into these movies. I think I just don't like action spy movies in general. The only one I really liked was 3.

I thinks its all the stupid mask gimmick shit. It's overused and never done well and usually just used as magic to dig the writers out of a hole.

While it doesn't take away from the movies for me, I agree it has been overused.

The masks are cool and a franchise staple. The reveals are usually very cool, dramatic moments. They're used the most in the first three movies, then less frequently precisely so it doesn't feel like a crutch. I don't think they even wear masks in Ghost Protocol

Hasn’t he been rogue for the last several installments? Probably doesn’t have access to the mask tech anymore.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

This is correct. Best mask reveal was in MI3, when the revisit the opening scene. Then I love in the last one when they stage the Wolf Blitzer interview.

Every time someone makes a post like that I'm like... why would you rob us of your opinion. Why would you keep that from us. Just knowing that you watched something does nothing for me. WHAT DID YOU THINK OF IT

I thought it was ok. As mentioned previously in the thread, I’d seen it before and surprisingly I remembered quite a bit of it. So the reveal and everything wasn’t anything unexpected. I was surprised at how dated(?) it actually looked but then remembered it was actually produced during Clinton’s first term.

Watching the second right now and I see Tom’s cousin is in it. It’s almost like Woo used to direct soap operas with all the quick zooms in to facial shots.
