I was so excited for Synecdoche, but didn't like it very much. Maybe my expectations were too high.

It's not meant to be fun entertainment like most movies; it's meant to make you think about and swim in feelings of hopelessness, loss, inevitability, in a strange universe in which your house can actually be on fire if your relationships are hopeless and all is lost. Definitely not a "good" time. It's no Mad Max.

I was always under the impression that it didn't actually exist. An urban legend sort of a thing

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Brings me right back to my video store days. Enjoyed the original Sex and Death on the Cheap articles so looking forward to this.

Remember when Guy Pearce was a huge movie star for about 5 years?

LA Confidential, Ravenous, Memento, Monte Cristo, Time Machine... Then he just kind of disappeared. What happened?

It stretches a little bit past that. He was the bad guy in a Marvel movie, and then Alien: Covenant... and then yeah, a bunch of obscure or Australian movies

Because now nobody would understand why the Roddy Piper and Keith David characters don’t immediately sell out humanity

Part of me thinks it's a great movie to remake, even though it couldn't be done well by current Hollywood, but then again, maybe it's too reliant on the dopey charm that can't be replicated.
