Probably wouldn't change the station if it came on the radio, but also wouldn't hunt it out to listen to

I'm enjoying the new record, it doesn't sound like a "new" band or reinvent the wheel but it does feel like they've hit reset a little and gone back to a 90s alt rock sound; I wouldn't be upset with an album this decent from Pearl Jam at this point

Re: Foo Fighters
I just gave it a first listen and i would tend to agree....certainly seems better than the last couple albums at the very least.Ms Harmless wrote:I'm enjoying the new record, it doesn't sound like a "new" band or reinvent the wheel but it does feel like they've hit reset a little and gone back to a 90s alt rock sound; I wouldn't be upset with an album this decent from Pearl Jam at this point

Re: Foo Fighters
His voice is too high in the mix to truly replicate the old sound but the album does have a sort of lost 90s outtakes vibe. It's a perfectly acceptable effort (good even) for a band this far into their career but I don't hear a single or a signature tune that matches prime 90's Foos. Rescued probably matches some of the better 00's radio friendly efforts. I doubt I'll return to it but hardcore Foo fans should be happy.

Re: Foo Fighters
It's a return to their Husker Du copycat days, this is the version of FF I like the best. On first listen it's their best since WL but not as good as the first three orso. I would probably rank it as a middle tier.
Fuck..Need to listen to Husker Du again

yeah I agree about the voice mixing, same issue as Ed Vedd nowbada wrote:His voice is too high in the mix to truly replicate the old sound but the album does have a sort of lost 90s outtakes vibe. People on music forums are complaining that the new album sounds like shit, but worse than usual. Loud and distorted and mixed badly.

Re: Foo Fighters
I listened to a bit of the new album yesterday.
It's not to my tastes these days, but it was definitely not terrible.
Awful way for it to happen, but I think Dave playing drums again helps a whole lot.
Dave should play everything on Foo Fighters records, the other guys should just be for touring purposes.
That first album is still great.

Re: Foo Fighters
yeah I think Dave is one of those drummers who can "colour" otherwise blander music so that it tickles the ear more; his style is recognisable instantly and it lifts the songs

No. That's just here - and music forums 20 years ago.daft twat wrote:Happy Trees wrote:People on music forums are complaining.
Now everyone is relentlessly positive about how everything is fantastic and perfect, regardless of its value.
In other words, you get no useful information.
But one thing everyone can agree on is that Dave Grohl has worn out his welcome.

Re: Foo Fighters
I would say I really liked about half of it, and the rest kind of goes in the bucket of the Foo Fighters songbook recycled.
I should clarify I didn’t dislike any of it, but I wasnt exactly banging down the door to hear it again. I just started Ben Harper’s album which is much more interesting thus far at least for me.

Let us know what you think of the Ben album when you finish it. I was disappointed with the couple of tracks I've heard off it, but maybe they weren't representative of the whole albumliebzz wrote:I would say I really liked about half of it, and the rest kind of goes in the bucket of the Foo Fighters songbook recycled.

So far it seems like it’s all acoustic. I enjoyed Giving Ghosts. Masterpiece a little less. That’s about as far as I got so far.
