Do they have great taste in movies?JuanHamm wrote:For the last few Tuesdays I've been going over to my parents house for dinner and a movie of their choosing.
Tonight it was The Long Good Friday. What a picture. A great soundtrack and fantastic performances from Hoskins and Mirren. The ending shot in particular was really great.
What movies are you watching?

Not really. Neither of them are really movie buffs or anything, but we've watched some pretty good stuff so far.Anders wrote:Do they have great taste in movies?JuanHamm wrote:For the last few Tuesdays I've been going over to my parents house for dinner and a movie of their choosing.

My Mom is mostly into old westerns, horror movies and tragically bad modern action movies (straight to Amazon prime kind of stuff) and my Dad mostly just likes action movies (We were an Arnie and Bruce Willis household growing up)
We've only been doing this for a month, but so far we've watched -
High Noon
The Bridge at Remagen
The Magnificent Seven (the old one)
The Long Good Friday
I've enjoyed them all so far (Friday the most, Bridge the least)

I watched Barry Lyndon. I didn’t really know much about it going in, but it wasn’t what I expected. For some reason I thought it was one of his older works also.JuanHamm wrote:That's on my personal list.lennytheweedwhacker wrote:You guys should watch Aguirre Wrath of God together
It’s hard to describe, but the way the film was presented was interesting. I think I kinda loved it.

I'm just firing up Aguirre, the Wrath of God. I'm going with the German dubbed version.

You're on a roll, tommy. If you enjoyed the feature/doc combo of Fitzcarraldo & Burden of Dreams, you could pair Aguirre with Herzog's doc about his collaboration with Kinski, My Best Fiend

Kinski is basically a villain in it, too, though. Not really painted as a good guy, I don't think

I was just looking at My Best Fiend. It looks like it's free on YouTube currently. That and Herzog's Nosferatu have been added to the top of my list.

He seems like a very interesting guy. I'd like to read his autobiography, but it seems like it's hard to get ahold of.The Argonaut wrote:Kinski is basically a villain in it, too, though. Not really painted as a good guy, I don't think

Interesting start to this.
