Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I watched half of Reds last night, and i'm probably team Argo on Diane Keaton. Granted it's been a long time since i've seen her works with Woody Allen, but having watched the first two Godfathers recently I definitely get where he's coming from.

She's at dinner and someone asks her what she writes about and she says "Everything." "Everything?" "Yeah, everything. Nothing." And then is embarrassed when no one engages with her.

Even worse, when the publisher asks her to describe her work she says "I couldn't possible describe it." Like, what the hell? So Warren Beatty jumps in and describes something she recently wrote. The publisher offers to take a meeting with her based on that, she accepts, and then when the guy leaves she yells at Warren Beatty that she's perfectly capable of talking about her own work. But she just said that she couldn't describe it. She does not make sense to me.

She's just not a good actor, and it's a silly movie. It's two romantic comedy characters in an epic setting. So the movie indulges itself in a 3.5 hour running time that it does not deserve or really make use of. The characters are as obnoxious and annoying as they were at the beginning of the movie

I finished it. I liked it for a while, too. It does have a fair bit going for it at points. There's an enjoyable and insightful and worthwhile ninety minute movie in there. But it loses a lot of goodwill and honestly (obviously) kind of pisses me off by being 3.5 hours
