Re: Transgender Rights
if the thread is about how to prevent car crashes and support car crash victims, what's the point in constantly posting car crashes "without comment"? stop pretending you can do this week in week out and still come across as impartialtree_ wrote:I didn't tell you my opinion of the video. I'm not saying anyone here wants me dead
I am saying that a handful of people here don't trust trans people to know what we need and advocate for it; I am saying that you feel we need you injecting some rationality into a conversation that primarily concerns *us*; I am saying you don't treat me as an adult

that's transphobia too
transphobia doesn't begin at "hate", it begins at doubt, fear, and reluctance to believe us as a default setting

Re: Transgender Rights
The reason I posted the video is we were talking about the importance of defining words in a way we can all agree upon so we can have actual conversations about anything. In the video nobody can agree what the word "woman" even means, which was relevant to the conversation we were having.Ms Harmless wrote:if the thread is about how to prevent car crashes and support car crash victims, what's the point in constantly posting car crashes "without comment"? stop pretending you can do this week in week out and still come across as impartialtree_ wrote:I didn't tell you my opinion of the video. I haven't even posted in this thread very often (definitely not every week), and when I do, I never say anything negative about trans people. Yet, you keep accusing me of being a trans phobe. It's simply baffling to me. It is your right, but until you have evidence, they are unsubstantiated attacks.

OK, I don't think that accurately describes me. But nonetheless, again, we are not agreeing on the definition of the word. I am going by the dictionary's definition of transphobia, which isMs Harmless wrote:I'm not saying anyone here wants me dead

"dislike of or strong prejudice against transgender people."
which I definitely do not have

Re: Transgender Rights
One could argue it's damaging to trans causes and their rights to not subject irreversible, life-altering medical treatments for children suffering Gender Dysphoria to the same rigorous scientific evaluation, standards, and wide-open discussion as other healthcare. By asserting that the right to the unregulated use of these drugs on vulnerable children is not up for debate, it gives the impression that it's an ideological and not evidence-based position. That's why it's important to recognize these other advanced democracies that have taken a step back to slow down and focus on psychological care while they ask critical questions like 'Is it really safe?' and 'Does it really improve long term outcomes?' with regards to these medical protocols. We should learn from that approach so that when it comes to kids who identify as trans that parents, doctors, and most importantly the patients understand what's going to happen and are confident they are on the right course.

Re: Transgender Rights
Bi_3, you act like doctors push surgery on 12 year olds that are questioning their gender. Why do you imagine a world where the most invasive option is the first choice for doctors? Who hurt you, man?Ms Harmless wrote:trans kids*Bi_3 wrote:One could argue it's damaging to trans causes and their rights to not subject irreversible, life-altering medical treatments for children suffering Gender Dysphoria to the same rigorous scientific evaluation, standards, and wide-open discussion as other healthcare. Re: Transgender Rights
so you're having fun "imagining worlds"? what about trying to get your head in this one? there is no conspiracy theory here where a trans cabal is "incentivising" doctors to go beyond what is best for their patients, but neither is "non-pharmaceutical therapy" going to address all of trans people's needs
