I very much doubt Matt would *choose* PJ right now, if forced to make the choice.

but i still think, though his heart might be with SG, and PJ might be in a bit of a creative slump or just lacking the motivation to be creative, they have never broken up, so that part makes me thing it would at least be a bit of a tough decision if he was made to chooseharmless wrote:I very much doubt Matt would *choose* PJ right now, if forced to make the choice.

I speculate it will be a double album and very likely their last.

If the new album isn't pearl jam's last album?..There probably won't be another one out until 2018-2019...

Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
Actually, fair point made. If this is their last album, and certainly that's a pretty reasonable proposition at this point, then should they not take their time and get it as they want it?
*answersself* yeah, maybe, but if it's not inspired whichever way, does it matter? Not a nought, unless it somehow turns out to be the Magnum Opus.
All that said, I'd still gladly take a steady stream of EP's and singles from this point on, regardless of where that musical journey lead.

I would love to see pearl jam release some ep/singles each year...But, I just don't think this is going to happen....But, I could be wrong....Pearl jam hasn't released a b-side for an album since Riot Act..

I think it is getting to be about time for a lost dogs v2...I think they have been saving many...many gems (some of which I may or may not have heard recently) that have not made their way out there widely or on to setlists.

Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
Oh, they're no big deal or anything, but hell, I do love Ed's voice and, being a child of the 80's, a good quality rip of these demos is pretty damn cool to me. I'd heard a few bits of this lot before, but I guess listening again made me realise how spoiled I was as a PJ tragic and how used I was to having "every available recording" without ever really actually listening to so many of those same recordings. This one gave me back my chutzpah.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:i still havent been able to give them a proper listen, for some reason the ones i downloaded from the site will play on itunes but wont load onto my ipod, so ive just given a quick listen to a couple of the songsVaris wrote:Oh, absolutely. If there's really "man many gems" out there, then they'd better have a very good excuse for not putting them on the last 2 albums...animalchin wrote:I think it is getting to be about time for a lost dogs v2...I think they have been saving many...many gems (some of which I may or may not have heard recently) that have not made their way out there widely or on to setlists.

Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
Yeah, I must say that Lost Dogs has certainly been a source of much PJ awesomeness to this late-bloomer. Having said that, I must admit to being highly sceptical of current PJ having a stash of such quality laying about.

Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
Who cares how much time they take to release an album. At least they released 9 studio record plus a b-sides compilation in the time it took My Bloody Valentine to release one album

Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
I didn't spend however long it's been waiting for a My Bloody Valentine album. Most people didn't. They suddenly sprung it on the world as an idea and then gave it to us fairly quickly after that, after everyone thought they were extinct. PJ is different. Nobody cares how long the album will take, but people will naturally lose interest in the band while they're waiting, especially if it sounds so much like they're not interested. I'm not going to invest any emotion into a passionless group of mediocre songwriters.

Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
Maybe the point is that people SHOULD lose interest in PJ during this time. Go out and listen and discover other stuff, rather than spending time wondering/debating/pontificating when a band is going to release something else. When they release it, it will be a nice surprise. Waiting on it hand and foot, and complaining about it along the way, only sets up an album for disaster. If people let it come out naturally while their interests lie elsewhere, listening to it might be more normal, rather than rationalizing why each song didn't live up to 4.5 years of expectation.harmless wrote:I didn't spend however long it's been waiting for a My Bloody Valentine album. Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
No offense, but I always hate it when people say stuff like this. I listen to a shitload of new music and at the same time I'm getting a bit frustrated at the length this new PJ album is taking, because well... they're still my favourite band, you know? But at the same time, my expectation is that the new album will probably disappoint me, so eh...bodysnatcher wrote:Maybe the point is that people SHOULD lose interest in PJ during this time.
