Now that I have the CD, I'll probably give it at least a few honest full spins in the car and see what shakes out.

Got the CD in the mail today. It sounds better than the iTunes stream (obviously) but I haven't changed my opinion on it (the problem isn't BOB's producing it's his bullshit keyboards everywhere). Up through Lightning Bolt I give it a B- and then things really go to hell with songs either unremarkable or downright awful. Yellow Moon is a 5 star masterpiece and does all it can to prop things up but it's nowhere near enough. I give it a D+ (maybe a C- if you ignore Future Days).

Yellow Moon is a masterpiece. Swallowed Whole is an Ed solo song that I find unremarkable.

I'd say Getaway and Sirens are great everything else up through LB is slightly above average. SBM, LTRP and FD are so God awful they drag the score way down. Infallible and Pendulum aren't bad they just don't do anything for me.

It's finally all falling into place for me.

I'm calling this No Code's twin brother. Strange musically but in time it's wonders will reveal themselves to all.

Guys, fuck the critics. Very rarely do they give great albums good reviews, and very rarely are their good reviews actually of great albums. Of course LB is better than Backspacer, but are the reviewers Pearl Jam fans? Maybe. Are they Pearl Jam fanatics? Probably not. So generally, while their viewpoint may be more objective it certainly is not right. Think whatever the fuck you want, but this album for me and I'm sure many others is way better than Backspacer could ever be.
