But without it, you'd miss out on that newsletter each month, as well as your chance to occasionally purchase goods from them, if you're quick enough.

I really can’t decide if the Rodman message helps or hurts Black, Red, Yellow.

I also love that he’s on the PJ song that has provided maybe 73¢ in royalties

His voice never bothers me or takes me out of the song. The guitars leading up to and under him talking are subtly some of of my favorite in the pj catalog. I’d like to hear it w/o Rodman to compare.

How can it be racist when I don’t even know what color his hair was at the time?

Listening to Pearl Jam on shuffle:

Habit: The outro is so good. Some of the best stuff the band has ever produced.

Garden (Redux): This is the only keeper for me from the redux. The slide bass (I think) in the intro is great and I can’t hear it on the original.

Ole: Dumb as it is, still better than most songs on Lightning Bolt.

Comes Than Goes: Elite song. My favorite on Gigaton. Officially now the rarest of all live rarities? (Zero times played live)

Daughter: I get so happy when this song invites me in…

Alone: A lot bands I like don’t have a song this good.

Strangest Tribe: This is the most beautiful and peaceful song they’ve made.

The End: Another song that’s made me cry more than once.

All Those Yesterdays: Rare aping ability because it sounds like Beatles music but doesn’t remind me of a specific Beatles song.

Sleight of Hand: It’s a masterpiece.

Supersonic: Fuck you, this song is great. I love every second of it.

Whipping: So good but they never captured it in the studio with the force and ferocity from Atlanta ‘94.

Hold On (Lost Dogs): The chorus is a downer but I love the “put it my pocket” line. Still one of my favs from Lost Dogs.

Acoustic #1: What is this again? It’s nice. Good job including it on PJ20.

Go: I’ll never forget bringing Vs. home and hearing Ed sing Go. The band is at peak intensity. Objectively top tier.

Faithfull: When Yield came out, it took me about a week to realize how good this song is. The guitars into the bridge are incredible and I don’t care if you can hear BOB on the board. There’s a whistle in there somewhere.

Johnny Guitar: Another good Backspacer song. This album is much better than Avocado and Lightning Bolt.

Help Help: This might be the most underrated song in the catalog.

Dirty Frank (live Orpheum): I didn’t like the studio version much. Instant fan when I heard this live version.

Dance of the Clairvoyants: It represents the moment they decided not to settle for going through the motions anymore. DotC is the first time since Riot Act that they were innovative on an album and it’s well executed. As good as it is, the subject matter at the end of the song is up for interpretation.

W.M.A (live in NY 2008): I really like the original on Vs. But I LOVE how they played it here. It does go on a bit long though with the background singers.

Even Flow: Ten is the best. Goodnight.

Pearl Jam and The Brian Jonestown Massacre are my favorite American bands ever but I can’t objectively argue they’re better than:

The Allman Brothers Band
The Velvet Underground
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
R.E.M.

i hear ya, the doors are probably another band you can put on that list. zz top, maybe aerosmith if you like prom songs. i think EV puts them above everyone. i'm sure there's arguments to be made every which way about musicianship, songwriting, collaborations, etc. i don't think anyone is going to argue about vocals except for maybe stipe and morrison. even tom petty likes eddie vedder's vocals better than his own lol.
