A really cool Matt-tune like In The Moonlight would have been perfect to replace LTRP.

Yup. Annoyingly, that live version has put me off it even more. It's not bad (definitely not Supersonic bad) but it's just insubstantial. Just there.

So looking at RM, it's only been a few days and usually new record excitements have dissolved by now.

Maybe this really is a great record?

Hell yeah! Love the last section of Lightning Bolt (the song)

LTRP was easily the worst sounding of the new songs last night. Felt flat and blah.

Pendulum was incredible live. Infallible has a much darker feel and good groove. I thought Sirens sounded great and was more subdued than the album. Yellow Moon was more folksy than epic. All in all they were pretty tight, if a bit restrained, on the new stuff. One other surprise - Unthought Known kicked ass, great version.

Weirdly, I wonder if UK would sit alongside these songs better than the Backspacer ones...

Couldn't agree more. Especially how great Unthought Known was. Pendulum is a perfect opener. Let the Records Play was exactly how you described it, flat and no energy. I missed the 2010 tour which most say was Eddie's worst, but last night he sounded fantastic.

Lightning Bolt was very good. Much better than what I saw (via YouTube howwever) from Wrigley .

So far these songs translate pretty damn well live.

They did exactly what I thought they'd do with LTRP, treated it all far too seriously. Eddie has no swag.

In fact they should've probably got Stone to sing it, live and on the album.

That was exactly the problem. If they're gonna play it they need to make it a campy bluesy number. Not a faster boring rock song.

So guys, thanks to a very generous 10C member I've now gone to the unusual step of ordering a PJ T-shirt in 2013 (the Halloween one).

Yup. That rhythm needs to haaaaang back, man. And Ed needs to be a bit less self-conscious if he wants to channel Marc Bolan.
