Never did catch the Wilco bug, but that song is undeniable.

How good was Matty Matheson? And his dingus brother? Hilarious. Then there's John Mulaney. Outstanding.
JLC stole the show, but there were a lot of outstanding performances going on around the fringes.
Bernthal kinda sold me. I used to think he stunk, and I was wrong.

Re: The Bear (FX/Hulu)
yeah Matty has been great all season.
I also kinda hated Bernthal, but since Wolf Of Wall Street he became one of my fav actors these days. Have you seen a movie called Sweet Virginia with him? Awesome as fuck.
And yeah, everyone is amazing. JMC has the meatiest role maybe, and boy, she delivers.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Is there an Emmy for best needle drop? Because if so, Animal takes it. And it's not even close.

You don't even have to like a Pearl Jam. It's not a taste thing. It's a craft thing.Mecca wrote:Maybe in this forum, but out there our tastes are all anachronisticepilogue wrote:Is there an Emmy for best needle drop? Because if so, Animal takes it. And it's not even close.

Great line from Andy Greenwald on a recent episode of The Watch podcast about The Bear’s use of music:
“Why is this sauce so good in the restaurant? It’s cause they fuckin’ put butter on it.”

Re: The Bear (FX/Hulu)
I was a little surprised at the fact that both Chris and Andy thought JLC was a little “much” in episode 6. No shade, but this coupled with the fact that in an earlier episode (it may have been them reviewing Season 1, I listened to that recently), the two of them didn’t know the difference between AA and Al-Anon, it makes me think that they might not have a lot of experience with that sort of addiction. It rang as very true to life for me, almost too close. I’m glad they came around on her for the finale.Ensign9 wrote:Great line from Andy Greenwald on a recent episode of The Watch podcast about The Bear’s use of music:

Re: The Bear (FX/Hulu)
Ditto; I was in awe of her.
I did agree with Chris and Andy that, initially, the superstar casting of the family felt a little much. But they’re superstars for a reason and any concern I had was blasted away by the dinner climax. I was all in.
John Mulaney felt ridiculous, initially, but then delivers that amazing grace at the table. Also: “Yes, I have $500 because I am a 43-year old man.”

Re: The Bear (FX/Hulu)
How do you not give every single cast member an Emmy? Just declare it a tie for the supporting and guest categories.
