Groundhog Day type "time loop" movies

Post by Jorge »

I'm talking Edge of Tomorrow, Source Code, etc

Something about this format is just deeply satisfying. Patterns, repetition. Easy fun.

What are some lesser known ones? There's gotta be some weird foreign ones and such

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Palm Springs, though not lesser known, is a great version of this. It relies entirely on people understanding the mechanics of Groundhog Day, which is great because it doesn't waste time explaining it. Just jumps into the world, clarifies a few differences, and takes its time exploring and having fun. Great movie

Run, Lola, Run is a "weird, foreign one", as you say. Not explicitly a time travel movie, but similar

There’s also an X-Files episode, I believe it’s called “Monday”?

I don't think I've ever actually seen it. Something about Ashton Kutcher is just repellent to me

Actually, the end of Dr Strange 1 kind of does fit this. Strange uses a Groundhog Day trick to beat the big baddie by annoying him basically
