I loved S1. But I felt like so many of the emotions and the payoffs were on the anger/disappointment/sad end of the spectrum. And this season has had just enough Ted Lasso in it that I was such a huge fan. I'm not articulating what I mean, but I think this season is one of the greatest seasons of TV I've ever seen. S1 was one of the best of last year, sure. But this was something *special*

You guys are making this sound like Grey's Anatomy for dudes who worked in a restaurant that one time.

"Ohmygod when he said the thing. I wept." (repeat)

Get a hold of yourselves.

I don't know if there's ever been a more insecure dude on RM. Take a deep breath, champ.

Oh for sure.

I will say... for whatever it's worth... regarding the finale...
Spoiler: show
I outright wept during epsidoes 7, 8, & 9. I got emotional and had a barrage of feelings, but I did not cry during the finale. So maybe he'll be okay?
Yes…
Spoiler: show
I feel like the emotional hammer blows of 6-7 were smoothed out in 10. The biggest wow moments—Pete (fucking Pete!) spilling the beans about the baby and Claire overhearing Carm’s rant—were blows, but they didn’t pack the same emotional weight. I was thinking specifically about the messages on Marcus’s phone, since trag seems to be connecting deeply with Marcus.

oh fuck right??!! Those texts were BRUTAL. Jesus! Good call. I'd somehow forgotten those in the chaos of everything else. That was ROUGH...

I would, but I'd likely well up.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Like you guys, the heavy feels came in eps 6-9; the finale made tons of sense from a plotting standpoint, but Pete’s scene with Donna was definitely the one that got me most.

What’s hit me so hard this season is the memories they’ve triggered around finally feeling like I had something to offer the world by being part of a kitchen team: Richie’s newfound self-respect, Tina’s desire to realize her potential, Marcus’s discovery that he’s talented at something, and their collective abilityto set conflict aside to get the job done.

I felt like like a loser most my life until I joined a really talented restaurant; still do a lot of days. This show says stuff about class, self-worth, teamwork, upward mobility, and the power of serviceable acts in such a way that feels like it was tailor made for my soul.
Having never worked in a restaurant (though my wife did for 15 years and most of my good friends are restaurant people), I 100% agree with everything you said here and I feel the same way. I get that I can't *totally* understand it because I'm not a restaurant guy, but I feel like it's pretty comparable to all fields, especially hospitality work like customer services/box office work, etc. But, yes, you nailed it, trag.

What happens now? They’ve set up some stuff for a s3, but doesn’t seem very compelling.

I could see Carm starting the season in a weird self exile, based on the success his team had while he was in the walk in. Richard et al keeps the The Bear afloat just enough.

I think everyone progressed at the soft open except Carmy, who took any personal progress he made as the reason he got locked in the cooler. I could see him becoming the Joel Mchale chef he’s been haunted by.
