This was not the phenomenal success I was expecting.

But that may be partially my fault. I may have gone in with expectations of Top Gun Maverick 2. And it isn't that. The movie reminded me of that fact right away, though. Maverick starts like a Tony Scott movie and this starts not unlike how a sixties TV show might start.

So I was able to re-calibrate quickly and remind myself this is the MI franchise, which I admire but have never loved.

But even judging against other MI movies, I don't think this one quite reaches the standard. Haley Atwell is a charming and welcome addition, and Pom Klementieff does a tremendous job. I think it would have been very easy to play her part like some sort of humanoid robot Terminator, but she gets a lot of subtle emotions in there. She does a lot of subtle work with very little lines. A+ for her.

There's one action sequence I really enjoyed, and a couple others that were cool. But I'm not sure there's anything in this one that is going to live on in my imagination the way many earlier moments from this series do.

I'm revising my initial prediction from big time box office bucks to regular hit. I don't see this one generating massive word of mouth. And it didn't leave me excited for an upcoming part 2 the way this summer's Spiderverse movie did.

Go ahead and go see it, you'll have fun. I did

That was a great time at the movies. It's not as good as Fallout. Did not enjoy the fridging of
Spoiler: show
.

But very good. A solid second place in the franchise. I think it's a good example of a cliffhanger done right, where the movie still feels like a narrative complete whole, as opposed to Spiderverse which felt very incomplete and unsatisfying to me.

Love to watch that man run

Both this and the last one, had scenes filmed in Norway, but for the previous one they called it India, and in this one they called it Austria. The scenes in this one, were filmed just outside the city I grew up in.

I agree with the general consensus here. Loved it. Tons of fun. Can't wait to watch it again. Not as good as Fallout.

Easily the silliest of the three McQuarrie instalments, but that's alright.

It was cheap. One of the movie's biggest flaws, I think, and part of the reason I didn't like it as much as Fallout
