Re: Song of the Moment: Infallible
I made a 2013 mix from the 6 or so shows I have. My ISP is throttling me to death so I can't upload anything until I change providers, but here's the tracklist:Birds in Hell wrote:I'll probably end up making some kind of 80-minute (or thereabouts) mix from the Australian/NZ shows at least.stip wrote:Birds in Hell wrote:I had too.Strat wrote:Birds in Hell wrote:You know, the keyboard pad that fades in as Matt's counting the song off and that constant percussive melody throughout the verses. The Auckland version is, by contrast, totally live; Boom plays that little melody on keys instead (he may have been doing so already but it was somewhat buried by the loop before) and the guitars are much more to the fore.Strat wrote:Birds in Hell wrote:By either accident or design, they ditched the backing track for this one at the Auckland show - it's like night and day, a really noticeable improvement over every previous live attempt.
Geez. What backing track? I guess I haven't listened closely enough.
I guess Ill have to listen with headphones closely. Heard a couple horrible live verrsions and gave up on that song.
It should've sounded like the Auckland version on record.
are you going to be putting together a tour comp?
I'd certainly be interested in a general Lightning Bolt live mix, like my Black Market Avocado compilation, but it would depend on whether really solid live versions of some of the songs emerge.

I've listened to the bootleg of this a few times, and Infallible is certainly better. Didn't notice it so much at the showBirds in Hell wrote:By either accident or design, they ditched the backing track for this one at the Auckland show - it's like night and day, a really noticeable improvement over every previous live attempt.

This song just keeps digging its claws in... Live version is probably a little better... But still, even the album version is a post-RA highlight for me

Love this song. My favourite from LB and the only one from the album to crack my overall top 10 PJ songs list.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

Listening to this right now. This song pretty much sucks. Probably my most disliked vocals out of their whole catalog.

Best song on LB. Best song since Riot Act in fact. Until Gigaton, obvy.
I love this track. It's the only one from the era that I still listen to regularly.

It's been a long while and I barely remember what this sounds like. Maybe I will give it a listen tomorrow

Rewrite of Tremor Christ but Ed's vocals make it good. Most passion he showed since Yield.

Re: Song of the Moment: Infallible
The music in the verses is not too far removed from that awful Imagine Dragons sound. Ed's melody, lyrics, and singing are all really lame. And then the chorus is an attempt at that unfurl-y LeAnn Rimes kind of pop chorus and it just does not work at all. As with "Can't Deny Me," Brendan O'Brien tries to cover up the total lack of interesting musical ideas with a bunch of superfluous little percussion flourishes. Bad bad bad, I'll revisit it in another ten years

It’s so weird when people say it’s similar to Tremor Christ.
