Prediction: 3-4 months of unspent studio cash gets rerouted to AI venture capital, thus accelerating the demise of the system the strikers are trying to protect

There's a pretty strong theory/argument going on (at least for the WGA part of this) that studios WANT the strike since most need to cut costs anyway. A lot of the people I know predicted this was always going to last until September for quarterly bottom-lines. Not really sure how SAG impacts this. We'll see...

I heard something about a September timeline for studios being able to cancel overall deals without penalty, which would also save a lot of money, theoretically.

That and lead to A LOT of tax breaks as well. Most WGA members seem to think/know this was always going to last until Sept. Maybe the SAG strike changes that/moves up the timeline. I have no idea. But everyone is trying to cut costs and save right now. Disney announcing less SW/Marvel content isn't a surprise in this context. It's expected.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Tom's movies don't really open big but they have legs for miles.

It opened better than Fallout, setting a new franchise peak, but falling below what some people expected after Top Gun: Maverick. I have no doubt it will outgross Fallout; M:I movies tend to perform really well over time, plus the positive word of mouth (A grade Cinemascore). It's a bit like Guardians of the Galaxy 3, which opened lower than sky-high forecasts but ended up doing really well over its run.

Actually everything now points to a massive drop for M:I7, despite great critic and audience scores across the board. Barbie, Oppenheimer, and Sound of Freedom all hitting it hard. Bummer, it's a great action movie and deserves to do better
