The same way anyone does anything that matters in this world: with grit and determination! And a spit-shine from Brendan O'Brien.

We didn't listen to it yet because the speakers in my car suck, so we are about to hit play now, we are heading out right after, then gonna come home, open a bottle of wine and give it a 2nd listen, then ill give some thoughts.

Im excited :D
:ohyeah!:

Can't WAIT to hear your thoughts, buddy. Hope it was worth the wait.

This newby right here hasn't listened to anything but the MYM and the live versions of FD and LB. It's probably one of the hardest things I've done in life. I don't think I'll be able to do it again unless I catch news that a a future release is expected to be similar to Backspacer (short on instruments).

Spoiler: show
getaway - good opener, catchy, will probably grow into a favorite but i need more listens

MYM - i love and I've talked about it a bunch in its thread

My Fathers Son - this one was my most anticipated song on the album and on first listen it fell short, but lets see how the 2nd listen goes. i think i was hoping for a slower song, but i do like it better the 2nd time through, and i love hearing all the bass. i think this will be a grower

Sirens - still love it, i have talked about it in its own thread, but after a couple more listens i really like it even more, and i do hear it as a power ballad, but not an 80s but definitely a November rain/estranged type. Ed sounds amazing and i just love his delivery. Its just a beautiful song and definitely brings out lots of emotions, i haven't heard it yet with out getting chills or in the case of during the gleason interview, tears in my eyes.

Lightning Bolt - really not much different then the wrigley performance and i really liked that one. Im looking forward to this one live in person, its gonna be huge. As far as on this album, currently its middle of the road i think, but ill try to do an early ranking in its appropriate thread later.

Infallible - this on is a perfect example of why i don't like reading or hearing about things before i can form my own opinion, from what people were expecting from a shitty recording of a sound check from outside the building, this thing could never live up so i hate that i had heard anything about it. I like a lot of stuff going on in this but I've gotta give it some time to build it self up after the initial disappointment, 2nd listen helped a lot, many great touches and i think it will be really nice live
Im gonna post my thoughts on the first half now and go to work on the 2nd half in a few

Spoiler: show
Pendulum - this song is fucking AMAZING, only 2 listens in but im pretty sure this is my favorite thing the band has done since riot act and probably including riot act. So much going on yet it seems so simple, im so excited you still have this kinda creativity in you pearl jam, now please give us more. Im gonna have more by listening to it again before moving on :P

Swallowed Whole - on first listen i was thinking this was my #2 right behind pendulum, lets see how 2nd listen is. I can definitely understand this being compared to into the wild, but in the first listens i think this is better then everything on that album, but that could be the newness talking. This might not be my #2 but i love it

Let The Records Play - people don't like this ? What the hell guys, this is a fun song with some great stuff happening, im definitely a LTRP fan, i can definitely hear the zz top comparison, and its really different for pj and i love that they did it

Sleeping By Myself - they made it work :D

Yellow Moon - i think this one is gonna be a grower but i like what im hearing on the first few listens, and its got a really nice build happening, even though MFS and infallible aren't as good as i was expecting on the first couple of listens, Jeff definitely brought some of the most interesting stuff this band has done in a long time. Im gonna give this one another listen and just close my eyes and enjoy. Man i like this one a lot, and when i say i think its gonna be a grower, i think it could eventually pass pendulum as my favorite.

Future Days - this one is much better on the album then at wrigley, its not near the top for me but i like it a lot more then i thought i would.

I don't think there is a bad song on this album, they are all good, great or amazing after the first few listens.

I really suck at explaining my feelings about music most of the time, but im in love with this album so far.

Ha! Well, I've been really busy a lot of the time and he's been listening to it on headphones.
I haven't even listened to Sirens yet.

But that's why he's in here talking about it :D
