Re: Talk about your day thread
All the concessions at most of our sporting and entertainment events are sourced out to nonprofits like the one we volunteer for. Since they’re nonprofits, we don’t get paid in the normal sense. We all have kids, or the kids themselves work, and they have college tuition or some other extracurricular fees and the money is sent directly to those places. We have one daughter in college and the other does school and competitive cheer. Mrs Wease started doing these in February or March and I started in May. We get paid a base fee per event, then all the tips for that are tallied and divvied up between all the volunteers. Our oldest went to France to study for 3 weeks this summer and that’s how we paid for it. So the amount you’re paid per event can vary greatly. The Shania Twain show has been our biggest payout yet with the two of us making $400 each. The Duran Duran show was one of the worst with us only making around $125 each. So it’s just a way to bring in a little bit extra and have it specifically designated for a particular use.Higgs wrote:Why? I thought you were gonna say you basically make enough to cover gas and parking to/from the event.

Haha. Good god no. It’s barely worth my time and effort as it is.Bammer wrote:I thought you were gonna say you basically make enough to cover gas and parking to/from the event.
Right now, the most consistent money maker we’ve worked are the Nashville Soccer Club games. Mrs Wease has worked some Predators games and payouts weren’t great. Not terrible but not great. We’ve been told Titans games bring good payouts so we’re hoping to get a few of those this season. The Triple A baseball team in Nashville usually brings in around $200 each. Not a bad way to supplement.

I joined a couple of Corvette groups on Facebook and it's just wonderful. Just old dudes posting pictures of their "babies" and other old dudes responding that it looks beautiful. Then they post their own pics and get complimented by the OP. Why can't RM be more like that?

OK, that makes sense. I’m actually looking forward to it. I contemplated actually getting tickets for it when I thought AiC was opening for them. As it is, with our booth location there, it’s a great venue for us to see the stage and we hear the show as if we were in seats. Or walking the concourse anyway.

Got a pension buyout offer from my old employer. Not great, only covers about 4 years worth and would be subject to tax, but I am considering it. It's not guaranteed the pension fund will even existing when I hit the retirement age so better a bird in the hand?
