I haven’t seen anybody talk about Phoenix’s use of an American accent rather than British accent. I think it’s a clever nod to how Napoleon, a native Corsican, sounded like an outsider compared to the French mainlanders.

He did change his name to make it more French.
He probably changed his accent to be more French too.
Phoenix is wrong here

Think of Tom cruise keeping his American accent for playing a German in Valkyrie to see how bad an idea that is.

At the end of the day, it's up to the actor and producers and director, etc. about how / if any accents are going to change.

I saw this Napoleon movie. I expect the public reaction to this will be similar to Scott's last two efforts. It will have its partisans, most viewers will enjoy it enough, but it won't make big waves or big money and Ridley will end up complaining about "kids these days" again.

It is a pretty cool movie, some fantastic stuff in there, never boring. Not exactly what I was expecting in terms of Napoleon's characterization. This movie paints him as a

There is also apparently a four-hour director's cut slated for eventual release on Apple+, but I'd still encourage people to go see this 2.5 hour cut on the big screen. I saw it in IMAX and Ridley definitely makes use of the big screen.

I'll look at the longer cut when its time comes, for sure

This was good, not great, but good. I never felt the movie’s length at any point and thought the battles were well done.
