The Book of Mormon
Go see this. Go. It's absolutely hysterical and the songs are fantastic. Everything about this show is good. If you're not in New York, fly there (or see it on tour). If you're already in New York and you haven't seen it, shame on you. This made me incredibly happy, and I've been singing the songs for a week straight.
Something I loved about it is how it avoids being completely mean-spirited and derisive. Yes, it does poke fun at a few absurdities of the Mormon faith, but it's mostly a musical about finding comfort in the face of hardship and horror. As the writers put it, it's "an atheist's love letter to religion". It also helps that it's side-splittingly hilarious.
Apparently they're also making it into a movie. I can't wait to see it.

Re: The Book of Mormon
I saw this a few months ago when it came to Denver. Quite possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen. They really did an amazing job. They obviously poked fun at the Mormon religion, but the overall story was very positive. And I cannot say enough how unbelievably funny it is. I agree, if you have the chance or the means to see this, absolutely do it.

Re: The Book of Mormon
Not in 2022, he was out of the show by then. He was a part of the OG cast. He was with it as far back as the workshop stage. He was ensemble from the start and understudied Elder McKinley in the original cast. Later (like 2014?) he was the replacement for Elder Cunningham. He did that for a while. Then he opened the show in London. But he hasn't been with it since like 2018? Something like that. But if you saw it twice before then, you probably did see him!Chris_H_2 wrote:i've seen it 3 times. but the last time was with my entire family in new york in January 2022 (oh, the stares we got from other people for bringing our kids who were the youngest in the audience by far). is it possible we saw the run with your friend?epilogue wrote:I even had a good friend in it!Chris_H_2 wrote:jesus joe, my 13 year old daughter has even seen itepilogue wrote:Somehow I still haven't seen this show...
