'based on existing IP' is not an automatic blanket indictment of a movie's lack of quality. Most "original" movies are sickeningly unoriginal, so I'm not at all troubled by another Dune adaptation or yet another Batman movie or a remake of the Toxic Avenger. Ambition and execution trump whether or not I've met these characters before

I'm glad if people like it, I just personally didn't get anything out of it. I'm also not at all a fan of the original movies. I think they're also about as cheap and lame as this one. That's why I suspect the note this is hitting with people is a nostalgic note. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. Enjoy the new Indy movie. When they make a Mean Girls 2, you guys can make fun of me
