It's very similar to Hulu Live and very easy to navigate/search. The DVR funcionality for sports is incredible.
i read it's hard to record single episodes for shows? what does this mean?

It's not that hard at all. You select the "add" button and it gives you the option record a single episode, the entire series, or to set up other options.

I have mine set up to record every PGA event, NBA, NFL, and Mizzou sporting event that is televised. You're not limited on space, so they exist in my library for two years. Every recording of a sports broadcast also creates a playlist of "key plays" that you can watch after the game is over. In addition, you can pause a live event and pick it up at that spot on your TV, phone, etc. at any time. I often watch games in segments due to family responsibilities, so I enjoy being able to pause games and catch up later.

I'll probably switch over from Directv soon, before the NFL season starts. I'm trepidatious because our internet sucks, but I think it'll work well enough for our needs. Thanks for your help, MD

I'd recommend testing your internet with a trial version of YouTubeTV before you cancel Direct TV. I funnily enough had way more connection issues with satellite TV over the years than I've had with YouTubeTV, but your mileage may vary.

You could! I rarely actually watch most of what I've recorded, but it's nice to have games so easily accessible if someone has a legendary game or something.

No, I wasn't a fan of the team at the time (I was 4 and lived in a different state), but I'm still oddly upset about it years later.

I haven't been able to get out of my Sirius XM subscription for the past 10 years for this same reason. I just find it easier to call them every 6 months and accept their deal of only $2.99/month for the streaming only subscription.

My wife does too but they always get us for full price one month when the deal expires. I imagine that's part of the model.

Why can no streaming services have a rewind/fast forward function that works smoothly?

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

My biggest concerns are how will I watch:

Regular Season MLB
Post Season MLB
March Madness

An antenna will cover most of the NFL.

Just subscribe to YouTube TV/Hulu TV for those two months for the latter two. Does your team have a local RSN that has an online pass?
