Seeing it 70mm but but IMAX
No review yet. He must’ve died in the atom bomb test scene
Good things about this:
- Cillian Murphy, obviously
- Emily Blunt giving it his all
- The "black and white/color" sequences were fun
- Uhh

I really think this is an indefensibly bad movie, but it's not "anti man" or "dangerous" or whatever. It's completely nonsensical and gaudy but it's a fucking Nolan movie! The real problem to me is that it's deeply unfunny. I laughed once, at a Matt Damon line delivery during that FUCKING MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD scene where everyone just stands around talking shit out for what feels like 40 minutes. That line may have stopped me from walking out. Everything else is about on par with that "fireball" stuff from the first trailer. Really wish this had been good, because the people who hate it are being extremely annoying about it. 4/10
say what.

No I copied Jorge's Barbie post and changed a few things to make it apply to Oppenheimer. It was supposed to be a wildly funny post but I forgot to change one pronoun and now the whole thing is ruined, I tell you, ruined!

Are you sure this review isn’t for Barbie?

:haha:

That post was supposed to be my masterpiece but I fucked it up.

So, I guess it's super appropriate for the Oppenheimer thread, come to think of it!

I watched it today in IMAX and liked it much better! And I did so before reading Joe's review so I'm not just trying to contradict him

Maybe it's because I knew what to expect, or maybe I was in a crummy mood the first time around, or maybe it was seeing it in the correct aspect ratio... I liked it about 50% more

Or maybe I just like disagreeing with Joe

It’s a challenging movie for sure; but that’s what makes it very interesting.

Like I said , it reminds me of JFK, another difficult great movie.

I want to see it again, but I'll wait a couple weeks. It won't break my heart if I never get back around to it, though
Please consider voting for me

I wish it had narrowed its scope to the creation of the bomb and ended after his meeting with Truman. Some of Nolan's most nimble and expressive filmmaking around the immediate aftermath of the bombings, and would've been a gut punch to end there

All in all probably my favorite Nolan movie. Definitely way better than Tenet and Dunkirk

I like this suggestion the most. I wonder if Nolan just saw RDJ doing his thing and focused on Strauss more
