Not as good as the previous three, but wasn't really expecting it to be. The train car hopping scene at the end was a bit excessive and the yellow Fiat car chase was silly, but no real complaints otherwise. I did find Gabriel a bit boring. I love Shea Whigham though. Oddly enough a few months ago I was thinking he'd be good in a film like this.

Is Ethan Hunt a superhero?

Jorge wrote:It's not her movie, no. It's Ethan's movie. You need to motivate Ethan to push his story forward. This was an easy (and, IMO lazy and overdone) way to do it. Don't think she was handled well in general (I immediately bumped into the fact that she was on the run again after explicitly earning her freedom two movies in a row). But yes, the sequence is cool, I enjoyed Ethan getting lost and the desperation. It's the story choice that I disagree with; I think the execution was as good as it could have been.
Agreed.

The train hopping was straight out of the second Uncharted game, and the Italy chase scene had a very similar sequence as one in Fast X earlier this summer, but I won't deduct many points for this.

The former just went on too long. I know it was leading to what's her name saving them, but it didn't need to take ten minutes to get there. Overall though this thing was paced really well.

I'm really picky about action movies, but II is the only one that underwhelms me at all. And Fallout is the greatest movie in the history of the world.

Let’s start a Fallout message board. Aside from everything else great, how f*cking good is Cavill at making such a hate-able villain in such a simple way?

I have a difficult time ranking the first because I love it, but in such a different way. III is such an outlier also.

Fallout had some pretty stupid parts in it anyway.

We should continue this discussion over on the new Fallout message board.

The plan is to disguise myself with a Sarge mask, seize control of this board, ba*g Ilsa, and turn this into a Fallout board.

Ok, let's say you somehow manage to slip past Ruddo's security systems at Red Mosquito headquarters. How exactly do you plan on getting inside the main RM vault? That thing's tripple locked! Passcode, voice ID, and penile scan.

Finally got to see this over the weekend with my wife. Really enjoyed it, and had a great time. Don't think it holds up as well as some of the other films in the series, but it was a lot of fun

Just watched this for the third (and last) time in the theater. Had a blast this time around. That extended chase sequence through Venice is truly hilarious. There are so many silly, dorky details throughout this movie. And I enjoyed how often it called back to the first movie. So many Dutch angles!

I haven't listened to the score on its own but I think this may be the first bongo-less Mission: Impossible film score?

Yeah it remind me a lot of the first one, obviously having Henry czerny and some of the framing too.

Ah, what an awesome movie.
