Re: Vs: Official Album thread
it's incredible how much their music climbed in quality just in the space of two albums (and with Vitalogy next? insane)

WMA is Pearl Jam's best political song probably, it never got better

Love WMA, but Insignificance, Do the Evolution, and a few others might have something to say about that.Ms Harmless wrote:WMA is Pearl Jam's best political song probably, it never got better

Yep, Yield with Brain of J/Faithfull the closest to it.Coach wrote:Vs still has my favorite opening 1-2 punch w/ Go - Animal.
Brain of J doesn’t have the lyrical substance that those do but it’s up there too.VinylGuy wrote:Insignificance and Grievance are the best ones

I love the way No Code opens. Sometimes is a great table setter and then Hail Hail hits you like a ton of bricks. This serves to bring out the best in each of those songs.

Hail, Hail used to jump-scare me the first few times I listened to it in the context of the album.
along those lines, Elderly Woman... used to do the same.

Re: Vs: Official Album thread
I am pretty sure I’ve told this story before but on the night of release, we went to a midnight madness party, got the disc and at 12:30/1:00am I put the thing in the boombox and listened with my friend. During Sometimes I thought there was something wrong with the CD and kept turning it up through the song so I could properly hear. We got the dial nearly all the way around when Hail Hail kicked on and I jumped so high I hit my head on the ceiling…and at that volume I raced over to lower it, looked at my friend, and we looked like a pair of guys who just saw Michael Myers jump out of those speakers.
Still does this to me from time to time.
