Phoebe Bridgers was magical. Savior Complex was my favorite of the night.

Arctic Monkeys sounded good, but kinda panic with the insane crowd. Alex Turner does not know how to handle people...i kept remembering how good Ed is with this. Or Jagger. Hell, even Axl Rose.

Lorde was epic. The crowd was on fire, she was actually very happy with it. It also poured and nobody cared and kept dancing. There was a moment were it felt like a coke comercial or something.

we went with three other couples to see arcade fire on saturday night. it was pretty good. but that's a band that thrives in smaller venues. admittedly the last time i saw them was at the chicago theater in 2007, and before that at the tiny riviera theater in 2004. this time they played the united center (which was nearly sold out). their sound seemed a little off the whole night.

Went to Arcade Fire last night at the Forum. The last time I saw them was at the Shrine years ago, also in Los Angeles. The production value was better this time around with the mini stage set up in the middle of the arena - but it definitely was not sold out. About the back 1/3rd of the floor was wide open and quite a few spots in the stands had a lot of open spaces. It wasn't UCLA playing South Alabama bad, but it was noticeable.

Nonetheless, still a fun time and a good concert. One of these times I'll finally be able to hear No Cars Go live.

Saw Springsteen on Tuesday. We had a great time as always, even if the shows have changed a bit.

Saw Billy Bragg the other night. He started at 8 on the nose and finished at 940 on the nose. WTF? That will be my last BB show I'd say. He spoke more than he bloody played!

Went to see Carly Rae Jepsen last night at Pier 17, a cool rooftop venue with a nice view and terrible sound. Within the first 5 songs it started thundering and the show was canceled. Sucks, but it happens, whatever. Shortly after that CRJ announces on her Instagram that she's doing a surprise pop-up show at Rockwood Music Hall, a tiny little venue in the Lower East Side, doors at 11pm. I quickly took a cab and minutes later I was standing 5 feet from her as her and her band played a brief set for a packed house of 150 people. Pretty cool experience. On top of that, they're doing a make-up show at Pier 17 later today.

Yeah she is a diminutive woman. I love her, she kept the energy and good vibes going the entire way through

i love when bands/artists do stuff like this. regardless of whether or not i like their music, i respect them more (e.g., coldplay was in town about 15 years ago playing a massive show at soldier field, and they announced a day-of show at a tiny club the night before for free just because).

It's great. She's a very engaging performer and the songs have more bite to them that the studio versions. The people I've seen her with that didn't know her stuff before have become converts.

Emotion for pure pop, The Loveliest Time for a quirkier and more experimental sound

I saw Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit a few weeks ago. And then Mountain Goats this past Saturday. I just bought tickets to Lucinda Williams in October.
