We had an awesome time last night. Present tense/SOLAT/porch was great, immortality, and rvm to the end also awesome. Im not one to get too upset over a setlist. The band, Eds voice in particular, sounded great. Glad I still get to see my favorite active band play and play well.

Just spilling the dropped tune talk from the Infallible thread into here. Did they play Rats down a step for the first time? Or have they done that before?

Other than that last night I think they're letting the crowd pull them back to the middle. 'Too many new songs' shit they aren't listening. Play evenflow!

Hope that's not the case
Surprised by the hate for Sometimes. I was just looking at the stat tracker and it looks like prior to last night they'd only played it 17 times in the last 13 years. Do you just really hate it, or does it always pop up at the shows you're at? Or both?

As to your other point, I don't get to see them til Oklahoma City, so I hope they haven't given up on the new stuff already. I'm really hoping to get a solid eight songs from the new album.

It's the first song I ever saw them play. In 96 with jack. And it was perfect.
Ever since its almost been played like a happy little throwaway ditty.

Mostly I object to it as an opener. Just never say right with me, for having seen it too often, not really. I've only seen it 6 times. Really more about they never manage to conjure up the mood and true essence of the song. For me. It could and probably is different for other people.

The instruments live are tuned a half-tone down or a full tone sometimes like the Led Zep Celebration Day gig. Mostly because the singer can't keep in tune as opposed to their studio effort.

Pearl Jam do it with most of their songs on Avocado and Backspacer. They tried it with Once, Do The Evolution, Save You and Evacuation too and apparently with Rats.

I hate it sometimes but not overly bothered about it.

I was at the show last night. One thing I noticed, and I'm wondering if anyone else did, is that it was much more intense than previous tours. It felt like I was watching pj circa 2000. It didn't have the "party atmosphere" that people have complained about the last few tours.

It means all the guitars are tuned down slightly so if you were to compare the songs to their studio counterparts, the studio version would sound higher. This means the singer doesn't have to stretch as much to hit any of the higher notes that they may not trust themselves to make every single time live. The songs are essentially being played in a different key.

It's a half-step down, I think, and I'm pretty sure that was the first time.
