Who could possibly think recording a new version of a classic song that's virtually indistinguishable from the original save for the awkward shoehorning of a character name from an obscure Casey Affleck movie was a good idea?

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Seen it once before. Last movie I added to 2017, probably won’t add more now. Still 100+ movies to go, including exactly 60 I’ve never seen before.

Think Denzel does an interesting role, in which he was nominated for an Academy Award. Not his best movie though.

Plan on seeing The Flash (2023), and Pitch Perfect 3 later.

I'm not sure you're right about its intentions. "Evil" is too strong a word but it is purposefully off-putting and mean spirited. Ari has talked a lot about that.

I feel as if all of Aster's work has that mean-spirited streak, and it's very clear from his short film he made before Midsommar; he's excellent at aesthetic and mood, but I just don't find any heart in his movies and the best horror (imo) has compassion; he's not terrible, but he is overrated; his reputation should've gone to Robert Eggers

For what it's worth, this is the first Ari Aster movie I've actually enjoyed. It's also not a horror movie.

Pitch Perfect 3 is fairly mediocre. Not fully done yet, but doubt it will change too much. First one was good, second was a decent follow up, even if a lesser overall movie. This seems to have lost the magic, but probably still fun for major fans of the franchise.

I tried a couple months ago. It was solid but I was getting tired and bailed after 30 minutes. I never went back. I've never seen The Hustler.

10 minutes into Color and I can already tell I'm going to love this. Paul Newman is magical.
