The strategy guide is a nice reminder that I have barely scratched the surface of what is in this game.

Like what? I’m curious.

Last week I decided to find all the bubble gems. To do this, I used the cherry blossoms to find caves I hadn’t. I got it down to 4 or 5 this way and then used an internet map to compare. My last one took me forever. It was the goddam Yiga hideout behind the waterfall. I had placed a stamp there and it covered the cave symbol. So the last shrine and last bubble gem came from the same place for me.

This week I did sign guy. I had previously walked the entire road and found innumerable randoms. Used an internet map again and I’ll bet there were 30 I had missed. One wasn’t there and later was there at night (by Hylia River) - what kind of bullshit is that?

I only have 250 korok seeds. I’m missing 20 wells. I’m also missing about 50 side quests, but every time I stumble on one they just want something like 10 chillshrooms and I have 80 so it’s just automatically done.

Still haven’t cashed in on my last 2 heart pieces from shrines I finished, but that will leave me one heart short of a second full line. Is that it or am I missing something?

Need to make some good weapons and do the Majora’s Mask lynel coliseum too.

Taking a 2 week break for vacation and will play for a week before school starts, but that will likely be the end unless dlc happens.

I’m down to 8 caves to find. I set my Sheikah sensor to detect bubulfrogs but I’m still having a hard time finding them.

You can't have both 2 rows of hearts and 3 stamina rings. It could be an issue of allocation. That being said, there is a side quest that gives you a heart piece or stamina vessel.

Some are bullshit. You have to crouch to enter. Too tiny.

PS - There are a few in the sky.

I went on vacation a couple weeks ago and I was pretty much at the endgame, or at least as far as I was willing to take it. I have all the shrines and lightroots, batteries fully maxed, etc. I want to max out some of my favourite pieces of gear but i'm starting to get annoyed at grinding out Lynels just to get the Lynel guts or whatever.

Anyways i'm struggling to find the drive to actually complete the game and move on now. I should have done it before I went away  .

Yeah the grind for armor upgrades is wearing on me. Same for finding the last 7 caves. Fortunately Pikmin 4 is out, so I may take a break from this and play that for a while. Hopefully when I'm done with that, we'll be close to some DLC for this.

I kind of miss fighting Guardians. Also avoiding them in places.

I’m at 143 shrines and still feel like I’m not even halfway done with the game.

I'm finally done for now.

I earned all the medals, found all Schema Stones, Yiga Schematics, and Old Maps. As far as I know, I've found everything and done everything except that I didn't upgrade all the armor and I didn't find all the Koroks (I found 539). 220 hours.

I finished the story last week and also clocked in around 220 i think. Though i believe you got a lot more done in your time. I didn't get many monster medals beyond the first couple. And probably only around 200 koroks.

I'm curious what it would feel like going back to BoTW after this. I might give it ago at some point.

This happened to me with Red Dead Redemption back in the day. I was obsessed with it. Went away on vacation and never played it again.

Finally found all of the caves. Trying to find all of the sign guy now but may take a break. Going to finish the compendium at some point. Finding the caves was tedious, even with the bubullfrog sensor on.

Sometimes I just like to go to the lookout towers and shoot myself into the sky. Such a cool mechanic that never gets old.

Yeah
Today I played for the first time since July. I actually didn’t play. I just watched the 18 memories in order. I barely paid attention to them when I found them. The story is…fine. I killed a Modulga afterwards, didn’t get a jawbone, and just shut it off.

I’m a teacher. I go back to work next week. I’ve seen some shows this summer, went on a two week vacation, and saw some friends I haven’t seen in a while, but my summer this year was really defined by this game. I spent a lot of time playing it. I’ll think of it often when winter comes and I’m marking countless essays. It was a good summer. I’ll be well into my 50s the next time we get a new Zelda. Fuck.

Today I remembered I never fought all the Lynels for Majora’s Mask. It was kind of fun. I’ll use the spoils to make some weapons for a run at Ganon to end summer.

And today I beat Ganon once more. I hadn’t done the Mineru thing the first time i beat it so the post-credit scene/real ending was new to me.
