Chud likes a lot of technically boring PJ songs.

You guys aren't liking yellow moon? Anything specific turning you off about it ?
It's boring, doesn't go anywhere, and relies too heavily on Ed's awful modern idiosyncrasies.
wrong, that's okay in this song (of a girl doesn't go anywhere either), and especially wrong
of a girl?
it's on Biuanural by The Pearl Jams

Yeah, sometimes I say things like my criticism of Yellow Moon even when I know damned well that those same qualities I'm criticizing don't hurt other songs.

Of The Girl is ok not going anywhere because of it's strong use of atmosphere, interesting instrumentation (love the beat), and a subdued, haunting vocal performance without excessive H sounds.

In fact, because of all these other qualities, Of The Girl is only helped by just meandering along.

To be fair, "Of the Girl" has a lot of blues country swagger in all the right ways. I realised how cool that song was when it followed Pendulum at Pittsburgh. Man, it sounded awesome. This one is a bit let down by just having a typical 6/8 rhythm, same as Lowlight. That said, it takes off during the bridge when the drums change from a rimshot to full snare.

In fact, the swinging rhythm is pretty comparable to 1/2 full.

I find it hard to tell the difference between 6/8 and 3/4. I usually just call them all 3/4.

OK.

"Speed of Sound" = 3/4

"Lowlight" / "Yellow Moon" = 6/8

Basically, 3/4 feels quicker.

I don't feel bad confusing them, since mathematically they're the same thing.

The first / top number denotes the number of beats in a bar (3 or 6) and the second / bottom number denotes the type of beat (4 or 8). But yeah, sort of, which is why I always confuse them.

Neither do I, I just pretend to, and then post enough so that people can't be bothered to go back, retrieve my post and correct me.

Sorry, wasn't trying to teach you to suck eggs. Actually I was clarifying it for myself mostly. I had to Youtube time signatures today for my drum review. I'm still not sure I got it right. The bridge of MFS; 5/4 I said it was.
