Yeah. I haven't done any comparisons but, using whiskey as an example, a bottle of Jameson is $48 here ($40 if you're lucky and find it discounted), Canadian Club is $36.

Yeah, I think it's to do with having no huge Target backing this time.

There's nothing to what they're doing (running a pseudo-indie legal entity heavily supported by Universal's massive distribution infrastructure) that is any different than plenty of other acts have undertaken over the years. From Ani Difranco and Bad Religion to Nine Inch Nails to Prince and the Rolling Stones, so many acts of so many different sizes have taken steps equal to or greater than Monkeywrench over the years, and none of them have had any trouble maintaining or even besting big label prices.

Yeah man, but it's different cause it's Pearl Jam. They rose from the ashes of Mother Love Bone.

Yup. I empathise with the arguments about this band selling out. It's always fun to join in. But I didn't really get into them for their unrivalled ethics and indie cred. That was a road they travelled for a while and I enjoyed it, but it wasn't what this band was early on, and I never expected it to be what the band would always be.

That was a road they travelled for a while and I enjoyed it, but it wasn't what this band was early on, and I never expected it to be what the band would always be.

What's funny is that the band are the ones responsible for getting the fanbase to believe that it was such an integral part of who they are/were. It ended up being so important to a lot of the fans because Pearl Jam was pretty insistent about how important it was to them.
