because the purpose of having a placard is to make it easier to walk to and from the place to where you drove. he wasn't using it for that purpose. he was just using it to park close so his daughter didn't have walk as far. and he was monopolizing the spot so it couldn't be used by someone who could have legitimately needed it.

i think he was abusing his privileges.
chris.
what? what am i missing? why did he need to park there? (and "because he can" isn't an answer)

There is a hog in me . . . a snout and a belly . . . a machinery for eating and grunting . . . a machinery for sleeping satisfied in the sun—I got this too from the wilderness and the wilderness will not let it go.

There is an eagle in me and a mockingbird . . . and the eagle flies among the Rocky Mountains of my dreams and fights among the Sierra crags of what I want . . . and the mockingbird warbles in the early forenoon before the dew is gone, warbles in the underbrush of my Chattanoogas of hope, gushes over the blue Ozark foothills of my wishes—And I got the eagle and the mockingbird from the wilderness.

O, I got a zoo, I got a menagerie, inside my ribs, under my bony head, under my red-valve heart—and I got something else: it is a man-child heart, a woman-child heart: it is a father and mother and lover: it came from God-Knows-Where: it is going to God-Knows-Where—For I am the keeper of the zoo: I say yes and no: I sing and kill and work: I am a pal of the world: I came from the wilderness.

She's rolling around on the ground crying. Oh god, there's blood. Is that a bone protruding from her shin?

Good thing he parked as close as possible...

Nah, you are correct. Being an adult is knowing the difference between can and should, and since he required the space at some point it should be obvious to him which path to take. My wife’s parents require handicapped parking. One is in a wheelchair and one a walker and they need closer, wider spaces. They deal with fake placard people and folks who use like a spouses or parents tag frequently

Plus, all loving relationships are built on honesty.

Sounds like he is neither a fake placard person nor someone who uses a spouse or parent's tag

Trag is right, there are potential scenarios where he might have to leave the car, it makes sense that he uses the space to pick up his kid. Real weird to take issue with it IMO

We must also factor in Chris's romantic feelings for his friend, manifesting in this misplaced resentment

Chris, you might bring up these feelings with your friend.

It may change your relationship for the better.
