Re: Talk about your day thread
Sitting here in the middle of the workday and went to throw some tunes on through my laptop. Went to the START menu to go to 'My Computer' and then the External Tunes drive I have attached as I always do. Suddenly my laptop starts shutting down and I'm all like "what the fuck is going on?". Turns out I clicked shutdown without thinking or saving anything.
No idea what I was doing there, my subconscious just decided it had had it for the work day I guess.
Signs that I am getting older I guess.
I remember the feeling I had on a few occasions as a young lad, smashed out of my scone on beers and bourbons and dope. That all around feeling of "I am here but I don't know where here specifically is, and I don't actually know what the hell I am doing right now" afforded to the not-quite-but-close-to blackout drunkard. I also recall watching my Dad as he moved through dementia a few years back now, and the correlation I felt between the two sensations. I could see my Dad was alive and was there, he just didn't know where the fuck "there" really was I guess.
That's my fear now that I have that in my future. Not gonna lie, it scares the shit out of me.

Doesn't Windows 10 give you a mid-screen "are you sure about that?"
You're losing your marbles.
You're losing your marbles.

You probably postponed updates for 2 years and your laptop had enough of your shit. Understandable.

Big time rain this AM and storms. I am soaked and I even had an umbrella, but it's tough to beat sideways rain.

Children have been proven to permanently reduce rational brain activity of those exposed to them for prolonged periods of time.

Re: Talk about your day thread
the new flooring is being installed as I post this.
also, I stupidly decided to update my iPhone to the beta of iOS 17 a few days ago, and it's been bogging my phone down ever since, all kinds of squirrely behavior, and I didn't have a good backup from the previous OS.
this morning i downloaded iOS 16.6, and restored my phone using that. I know the full-on version of 17 will be out soon, but I couldn't take much more of the erratic behavior.

First experience removing a broken bolt today (Barbie's previous owner was definitely an idiot). It was a battle and I might have burned out my drill, but I finally got that fucker out.
