Stone said the album is almost finished and they had a lot of fun doing it.

Stone explained that Andrew Watt, in his spare time, stepped in on bass while Stone worked on a few demos and Ed put some fixing on those takes so they'll be on the album.

Is this a concept album about the dangers of advancing technology?

Secretly recording without telling Jeff? They really are going for that "classic Pearl Jam" sound.elliseamos wrote:Stone explained that Andrew Watt, in his spare time, stepped in on bass while Stone worked on a few demos and Ed put some fixing on those takes so they'll be on the album.

Jeff needs to walk by Easy Street Records every Friday just to make sure there isn’t a new Pearl Jam album out there.

If this Andrew dink is playing bass on any song, and Jeff is nowhere to be found on the track, then the band I love is officially done.

Yeah but he still played guitar on Smile, and his bass part was replaced by another band member.wease wrote:As opposed to No Code?tragabigzanda wrote:If this Andrew dink is playing bass on any song, and Jeff is nowhere to be found on the track, then the band I love is officially done.

So it’s Andrew Dink’s participation at which you draw the line?tragabigzanda wrote:Yeah but he still played guitar on Smile, and his bass part was replaced by another band member.wease wrote:As opposed to No Code?tragabigzanda wrote:If this Andrew dink is playing bass on any song, and Jeff is nowhere to be found on the track, then the band I love is officially done.

Re: 12th album rumors and speculation
I draw the line at any producer supplanting the role of a core bandmember through some sort of scheduling/workflow trickery.wease wrote:So it’s Andrew Dink’s participation at which you draw the line?tragabigzanda wrote:Yeah but he still played guitar on Smile, and his bass part was replaced by another band member.wease wrote:As opposed to No Code?tragabigzanda wrote:If this Andrew dink is playing bass on any song, and Jeff is nowhere to be found on the track, then the band I love is officially done.
And while it’s not WW3, I don’t take this even a little lightly. For Andrew or any other producer to elbow his way onto a record without allowing a core member — whose legacy and financial compensation are tied to the band — to be part of the conversation would be an indication of said producer’s desire to direct the band towards his self-serving vision rather than serving a functional role as an objective support mechanism.
Probably it’s not the case; I’m not gonna take one RM post and run with it. But hypothetically speaking, if Andrew shows up on a bass track and Jeff is nowhere to be found on the song, that would be kind of gross. If the same happened and the royalties actually went to Andrew and not Jeff, that would be very gross.
