With the trauma of starting school, some suspicions I’ve had for awhile have been confirmed. My kid eats her feelings. She’s not chubby now, but it’ll be something we’ll have to watch and tend to soon.

The Weight Loss Thread can be used for RM kids, too. Some of the guys there might have some advice.

Pretty normal for kids to struggle through adjustment the first week or two.

Chubby? I’d never refer to an adult or even an older kid that way, but seems appropriate for infants/toddlers.

trauma comes in all forms, bam bam. funny enough, we can carry a lot of childhood trauma into adolescence and adulthood, and it sometimes comes out in f*cked up ways.

full disclosure, but i recently did some EMDR to work through a lot of my own childhood trauma.

kudos to spike for acknowledging.

There is an eagle in me and a mockingbird . . . and the eagle flies among the Rocky Mountains of my dreams and fights among the Sierra crags of what I want . . . and the mockingbird warbles in the early forenoon before the dew is gone, warbles in the underbrush of my Chattanoogas of hope, gushes over the blue Ozark foothills of my wishes—And I got the eagle and the mockingbird from the wilderness.

O, I got a zoo, I got a menagerie, inside my ribs, under my bony head, under my red-valve heart—and I got something else: it is a man-child heart, a woman-child heart: it is a father and mother and lover: it came from God-Knows-Where: it is going to God-Knows-Where—For I am the keeper of the zoo: I say yes and no: I sing and kill and work: I am a pal of the world: I came from the wilderness.

my elementary school aged kiddo gets anxiety the first few weeks leading up to the new school year. Once it starts she's good but I totally understand the weeks leading up to.

My 1st grader has had 7 different daytime arrangements this summer (i.e. camps/summer school/weeks with grandparents). I'm ready for the routine of the school year.

Oh, I thought of another horrible parenting experience. Listening to your kids talk about their dreams. Ugh. Painfully boring.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?
