Oh boy
It’s effort that may be lost on the non-completist Star Wars fan, though — the casual appreciator of space battles, or the adult enthusiast who might have been intrigued by the animated series, but never thought of them as essential viewing. The Venn diagram of Star Wars fans who might start watching the new show and have also watched Clone Wars and/or Rebels is not a perfect circle, which means Ahsoka is our punishment for that presumption, a limited series in name only that is so deeply seeped in elements of Filoni’s corner of the Star Wars universe that it may prove alienating.

Well that’s just reminded me.

I don’t know how anyone can enjoy this and not know what rebels was.

You wouldn’t have a clue what’s going on

I said this in here before. This is for the fans.
It is. You wouldn’t have the first notion what it’s about if you haven’t seen rebels.

That’s just it
Not trying to start something, but I think it's for a certain type of fan. I think the fan that takes in everything star wars , warts and all, and mostly accepts it.

Reading that AV article and the comments, it seems the other type of fan (old school OT, or just watches live-action movies) might see this and shrug it off or not even finish it. It's looks to be so entrenched in SW-extended universe deep cuts that it would throw a lot of casual fans off.

Well that’s kinda what I’ve been saying the last page or two.

It feels like rebels is required viewing. And a fuck ton of Star Wars fans haven’t even watched rebels. It’s a slog some of it but it’s worth it ultimately.

But I agree with vg. Move it all forward.

They complain when it’s the same old characters. Now they’re gonna complain cos there’s new ones they don’t know.

Can’t win with some people.

I envy the people that can just jump in to this. I'm going to pretend I haven't seen any other Ahsoka content and just go along for the ride. Stories have to start somewhere. The best scenes start late and get out early. No one had to see The Clone Wars before watching A New Hope. I'm gonna do my best to put myself into that frame of mind.

Disney + have had an Ahsoka playlist available for months to get ready for the series.
But there are tons of youtube stuff explaining all the Rebels stuff leading up to it too.

Couldn't you just go into Ahsoka like we all did with ANH? Knowing nothing? They dumped us into the middle of a space battle.

I'm sure that works the same with Ahsoka.

That’s not how it works sadly.

In a perfect world it would.

That world is not how our online or society or fandom works.

Well, if its written well, one should be able to head into this and still get the story and enjoyment out of it.

And, with that, one who is rebels obsessed, shoudl get even more fun out of it.

Well Ahsoka herself being a standoffish unlikeable asshole doesn’t help any of this. But ok.

Oh mama. This was something. Incredible. Much more Star Wars-y than Andor. In a good way. But not cheesy like BoBF or the last season of mandalorian.

Ray is amazing. So sad he died. He’s a great actor.
Love the Jedi training droid with Ahsoka
Inject live action Chopper into my veins

I agree with dime there is so much to unpack in one season.

Just finished ep1.

Like it a lot, its serious and well done, even if a bit cheap in some shots. Rosario Dawson is very good.
Spoiler: show
i didnt liked that Sabine took the map, opens it and then it got stolen. Bit easy and formulaic
