Correct, correct, and correct.Lounge Lizard wrote:I kind of get sort of a Pink Floyd-ish vibe from the verse riff, something from their earlier, simpler stuff.rick malone wrote:I read the beginning of this song borrows or rips off a Cream song can't remember which one.
But Cream is a good call too, I mean, style wise.
3.5-4 stars from me. It's one of the highlights off that album. Except for the 'oh oh ohs', they always threw me off. These pass for fioritures in modern music by popsies like Shania Twain and such.

I've never understood the hate for "ooh oohs" on this song. Eddie's been yeeheeing, yeah yeahing, and yabba yabba dooing since Ten.

I don’t rank anything. But if I did… this songs objectively awful.
It’s turgid.

Is this a band I should try actually listening to?tragabigzanda wrote:Ok, so actually about half their songs sound like an obvious influence on Unemployable, but these two really stand out to me:tragabigzanda wrote:There’s an urge overkill song that feels like an obvious influence but I can’t recall what it is, I’ll try to find it unless someone beats me to the punch

I've listened to these two and Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon. Really dig all 3. Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon gave me a major Nick Cave vibe.tragabigzanda wrote: About half their songs sound just like this and are awesome, really inventive guitar play.
Then I'd say about 25% of their songs are slower, moodier pieces and YMMV.
The remaining 25% is uptempo proto-pop-punk stuff and I think that mostly sucks.

The "ohs" are catchy as fuck. In the context of this song, I don't get any Shania Twain vibes

not the tightest version in austin, but it was great to hear this absolute gem of a song played live again
also, just good to know that they hadn't forgotten about it. tighten it up for 2024 and get it in the rotation

This damn well might be the best song on the album, but that's partly because I can't think of anything better. Parachutes, maybe.
