Do you address waiters/waitresses/servers by their names? I feel like in bars that’s good but in restaurants it’s awkward and boomer dad-ish.

So when you sit down at like a chain restaurant you address the server by their name? I find I usually use sir/ma’am instead. Using the name feels like an exercise of power over someone by assuming a level of familiarity that isn’t present
